18 MARCH 2024: Last week ACC hosted the University of Queensland ICMJ student team training for the Intercollegiate Meat Judging competition at Rockhampton in April.

The team visited our Cannon Hill processing facility for first-hand coaching from AMPC Co-Innovation Manager Rebecca Bennett and hosted by our Group Manager R&D Paul Gibson.

The students from UQ Gatton Campus undertook an intensive session looking at beef carcase grading and primal identification.

Mr Gibson said: “ACC has supported the ICMJ program for many years as a solid pathway for new graduates to enter and progress professional careers within the Australian meat and livestock industry.”

The ICMJ program maintains a career development focus that introduces young ag students to leaders of the industry. Read more about the program, and the career pathways it offers, here Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Association (ICMJ) | Building careers in the meat industry

Last year’s campaign resulted in three UQ students qualifying for the elite Australian team that proved subsequent winners in the US-based international competition.
