Meat processing

Our processing facility is fully integrated and globally recognised.

World-class processing facility

Our processing site at Cannon Hill in Brisbane is one of the only beef processing facilities in the world that will slaughter, bone, value-add, retail-ready package and distribute under one roof and in an unbroken cold chain.

The facility is situated on a 40-hectare site located near the seaport, airport and national highway.

Since we purchased the site from the Queensland Government in 2000, it has undergone significant refurbishment, with more than $180 million invested to develop the purpose-built facility to what it is today—capable of processing 350,000 head per year.

Primary processing

Our primary processing facility has a daily capacity of 1,400 head of beef cattle, or approximately 90,000,000 carcass kilos  per annum, with opportunity to increase future production through additional shifts.

Value-add

The value-add facility, incorporating multi-species (lamb, beef and veal) sausages, corned, marinated, glazed and coated products, hamburger patties, rissoles and meatballs has a current annual capacity of 25,000,000 kilograms  for our customers.

Retail-ready

The retail-ready facility cuts, prepares, packs and distributes multi-species steaks, mince and stir-fry diced products—an annual capacity of 50,000,000 kilograms of fresh red meat products.

Internationally recognised accreditations

The processing facility has its own NATA accredited laboratory and permanent Department of Agriculture inspectors that work onsite.

Our facility maintains a BRC GFSI certification along with other ISO accreditation and operates to the Australian Animal Welfare certification system. It is also USDA licensed and HALAL certified.

The operation has also been recognised with DAWR certification for organic processing, and Aus-Meat A+ under the inspection and monitoring processes of DAWR.
