23 JUNE 2023: Agriculture opens minds … including ours. We were delighted to host this group of young people at our Brisbane Valley feedlot yesterday and impressed by their insightful and wide-ranging questions.

Even more surprising for us was that these year 11-12 city kids are studying agriculture at Corinda State High School – barely 10km from the Brisbane CBD.

Location is immaterial for an industry that feeds, clothes and houses people. It’s estimated that there’s two off-farm agribusiness jobs for every three on-farm workers in Australia. And with six jobs for every ag graduate in this country … it’s a far-sighted school that offers ag in its curriculum.

Our Brisbane Valley staff feedlot manager Dolf Masaus and administrator Renee Wilson hosted the visit, which was led by teacher Chris Butcher and organised by Emily Kenny, AgForce Queensland School to Industry liaison officer.
